The Audit Intern is responsible for providing support to the audit team in the planning, execution, and reporting of audits. The Audit Intern will also support the audit team in grant compliance and CPA report review. This includes gathering and analyzing data, preparing audit and grant compliance documentation, and assisting with the preparation of audit reports. The Audit Intern will also have the opportunity to learn about the audit process and gain experience in a variety of accounting and auditing areas in which KDADS operates. The Audit Intern will gain experience in all aspects of the audit process including planning, fieldwork, documentation, and reporting.
The audits KDADS conducts are nursing facility audits and grant audits. The Audit Intern will gain valuable experience in both types of audits. The nursing facility audits involve, but are not limited to, planning, interviews/questionnaires, fieldwork such as review of allowable expenses reported to Medicaid, review of allocation methods, and closeout discussions with the Management of the nursing facility before the final report issuance. The grant audits involve, but are not limited to, planning, interviews/questionnaires, review of allowable expenses charged to the specific Federal grant, evaluation of the internal control environment through test work, and closeout discussions with the Management of the Organization before the final report issuance.
